Back after a long break

What seems like forever, I am back in the gaming scene. I have been introduced to Starcraft Season 5, missing out completely on season 4 I had a rough start back to the game, landing in Silver after my 5 placement matches lol.

I will be uploading replays soon so that I can show my progression as I try to rank up higher.

Also on my plate is Battlefield 3, of all the shooters I’ve ever played the Battlefield series has always been my favorite by far and BF3 is what I have come to expect from the series, I am working on getting a stream going for when I play with my squad, should be up soon.

Anyways I’m just checking back in – in case anyone might still come to this site … lol

StarCraft 2

Random gaming act of Desperation No. 1

In a FFA match between two of my friends, I get caught up in the middle of pretty big battle.. almost knocked completely out, I attempt to long mine an expansion to make a come back.

Battlefield Play4Free

Not too long ago I saw a preview uploaded by IGN for a game called Battlefield Play4Free.

Battlefield has always been a great series by EA and one of my preferred FPS game. Back in the days of BF1942, I considered it my all time favorite game and still to this day kinda wish it was still relevant. Lucky for me EA finally came out with another game similar to the classic. Battlefield 1943 was released on the PSN and Xbox Marketplace not too long ago and delivered much of random insane FPS goodness that had been missing from my life. Unfortunately the game only made it to consoles – which isn’t really all that bad… however, my PlayStation has passed on into the after life and can no longer give me any entertainment :(

With the loss of my PlayStation my gaming life took a devastating hit, it wasn’t until recently that I built a new gaming PC that could handle todays games.

A short time ago, while browsing YouTube I saw a video for Battlefield Play4Free… usually I tend to avoid Play4Free, but I had not been let down by Battlefield before so I gave it a shot.

While it wasn’t amazing or perfect by any means, it was actually rather enjoyable to play. EA had implemented a system to rent out better gear and weapons. The options available were to use cash and have an instant reward ( often for a longer duration of time ) or to play the game with standard gear and weapons over time earning an in-game currency that could be traded in for the “elite” ranked weapons.
I don’t really agree with using real money to obtain items in a game, so I opted to earn the weapons – it also seemed more fun that way.

I have to say, this isn’t a bad game, even for the BETA stage I played it in.

Here is a replay of a match I played to get a better idea of the game.

If youre interested in playing, head on over to the site and join up to start playing

Street Fighter 4 on My PC??

First off I have to give major props to MotionJoy for their new software driver allowing me to connect my PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 controller up to my PC.

Second I gotta hand it to Valve for making Steam so great now days… I really hated that shit back when Counter Strike FORCED us to convert to Steam to continue playing online back when it first came out… and I avoided it for a Long while… But I have to admit, they kept up with their idea and turned Steam into a quality product.

Now that all of that is out of the way, with my PlayStation 3 still dead my PC is currently my only option to use in order to beat some ass online… And Damnit I’m gonna’ use it!
I bought Street Fighter 4 on the Steam store for about $30~ which isn’t too bad of a price. The download was pretty quick and I was playing almost instantly

The gameplay on the PC feels a little smoother than it did on my PS3 oddly enough, and the driver for the controller is really holding up well. I don’t feel any input delay or anything. I’m able to pull off all the moves spot on, and control my character as accurately as I normally could. The only thing I will really miss is the extra characters from SUPER SF4 as Capcom has only released the original version for PC.

Anyways here are some replays to watch:

Final Fantasy XIV

A New Beginning

It’s here! Final Fantasy XIV For PC has shipped! And I was snazzy enough to snag a limited Collectors Edition!

A week of the servers to our selfs to explore, craft, kill, cornhole the drunks and do whatever else the shit we want !!

Damn what a big ass box

The collectors edition is pretty neat, it comes with a fancy adventure log, and a dvd video of all the creators showing how they made the game and revealing their thought process on each aspect of the game. But most importantly is the release date, one full week before the standard edition hits store shelves ;o

By now the first week has passed and everyone is in the game bitching about everything they think is wrong with it
I’m not going to lie, there is quite a bit lacking from the game… some very vital and basic stuff actually… but I’m going to stick it through

It’s moments like this that really make the game feel awesome

If anyone wants to come play along with me your’e welcome to it. I’m Neo Gearzx of the Bodhum server.
And my adventure starts here.

Final Fantasy XIV

A Beta taste of Final Fantasy XIV

So by now the beta servers are down and everyone in it has their share of opinions on the game they played.
I for one am decently happy with what I saw and experienced in the short time I was able to play the beta and am excited still for the retail release in just a few days away.

The battle system seems like a hybrid of all the Final Fantasy games previous to this. It feels sorta fluid and sorta clunky at times. Toggling multiple targets seems to be a bit of trouble, but it is manageable with time and patience. Macros are a must to have any advantage. Fortunately I have found a site to help out with macros. ( http://www.yetikitn.com/ffxiv/ )
As I find more tools and tips I will share them here.

Leveling up is going to take a while as it relies mostly on grinding monster after monster repeatedly. At least this time each player is capable of grinding experience points solo. Questing wasn’t really a big thing in Final Fantasy XI, but it is peeking its tiny head in XIV ( barely ) by allowing players to activate a “Guidleave.” Which really just comes down to killing x monster at x location within a time limit of 30 minutes. Below is video example I recorded my self during the beta period.
I apologize for the lack of music, I had most sounds turned down low for the use ofventrilo.

The Guidleaves are fun, but the draw back is that in the beta you could only activate up to eight Guildleave quests within a 48 hour time period.

The crafting aspect of the game is interesting as the result of the synthesis is really up to the player more so than in any game I’ve seen. I plan to level Goldsmithing in the retail version.

Enough babling, I will talk more about this game after it releases on September 22nd.
Enjoy these in game screen shots to show off the pretty graphics

New Computer ! – Back In Business !

Alright everyone, thanks for your patiences and sorry for the delay in new entries lately.

As some of you might know, both my PlayStation 3 and my laptop died in the same night (ugh!)
Warning! Video NSFW: cussing and F Bombs, also rather loud audio.

I had been wanting to build a new PC soon anyways but I just couldn’t justify it.. that was until all my stuff broke.
I Googled parts and prices for around two weeks before I found what I wanted for prices I thought to be acceptable. I placed the order and in about a week this showed up at my door step.

Oh! What do we have here?
Ah Ha! The components to my new gaming rig have arrived.

14 seconds later

I was so eager to get this baby up and running I built this thing as nicely and quickly as I could.

I think it came out great.
You can see the awesome looking Corsair H70 liquid cooling contraption I’m using for the Intel Core i7 processor in the second picture here. It was pretty expensive but it has given me really good temps so far. Even at 3.8Ghz

So what have I been doing with this beast? You’ll find out soon in my next post!
